Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! Here are some events to look forward to this weekend:
Deck the Park
Holiday lights are coming to the Eastern Glades in Memorial Park for the second year. Starting on Dec. 4 and running through Jan. 3, take a stroll through Clay Family Eastern Glades while enjoying festive holiday lights. On Friday from 4-9 p.m., Deck the Park will kick off Holiday Lights in Clay Family Eastern Glades. Holiday activities will begin the event and a preview of the lights will be at 6 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets for the screening of The Grinch at 7:30 p.m. Admission to Deck the Park is $15 for adults and $10 for children.
Dickens on the Strand
This weekend in Galveston, experience the architecture, sights, and sounds of a Victorian holiday, and dress up for extra fun. Interact with time-period performers, watch live entertainment, and shop from local vendors. Admission is $20 for adults and half price if you attend in a Victorian costume.
2021 Invitational Heights Artisan Market
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at All Saints Church Hall, visitors are invited to browse art from local artisans. Masks are required for all who attend, and this event is free.
Southside Winter Carnival
Bring the whole family, including your furry friends, to Fire Truck Park for the Southside Winter Carnival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be photos with Santa, face painting, and fun in the snow! This event is free and open to the public.
Levy Park Holiday Festival
This free, two-day festival at Levy Park will feature a holiday market, craft stations, live music, and pictures with Santa. Parking is available adjacent to the park and along Eastside Street and Wakeforest Avenue. Additional public parking is available in the Kirby Grove parking garage located at the corner of Richmond and Wakeforest. More information on vendors and the entertainment lineup can be found here.
The Galleria Snow Spectacular
New this year, the Galleria’s Snow Spectacular begins this weekend. Skate under falling snow every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 12 and then daily from Dec. 18-24. Admission to skate is $23 for adults and $21 for children.
Reliant Lights Mayor’s Holiday Spectacular
Mayor Sylvester Turner will kick off the holiday season at the Mayor’s Holiday Spectacular presented by Reliant. The event from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday night is free and open to the whole family. It includes music, fireworks, and the much-anticipated lighting of the 65-foot holiday tree in Hermann Square at City Hall. Pop icon Taylor Dayne will headline this year’s event.
Texans vs. Colts
The Texans face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at NRG Stadium.
