Chinquapin’s annual sporting clays tournament brought out more than 200 to enjoy great weather and a fun day of shooting. An auction brought in more than $150,000 to support Chinquapin's mission to provide a rigorous college-prep education to motivated kids. Event co-chairs (pictured, from left) Freddie Barela, Will McDaniel, Andrew Kollaer, and Sam Bowen, Jr. teamed up with the host committee, including Nick Anderson, Ross Apffel, Scott Arnoldy, Bryan Athon, Cape Bell, Trey Cornelius, Greg Davis, Phillip Gayle, David Holland, Clayton Johnson, Ross Lairson, David Lassetter, Carson McDaniel, George McDaniel, David Murphy, Ryan Sauer, Jim Thompson, and Rob Wellington. First-place winners were Team Piper Sandler, led by James Baker, Ron Honefenger, Kazim Nawab, and Brian Roche; second place was Bill Finnegan, Mike Marek, Thomas Verity, and Scott Zornes; and third place was Team Midcoast Energy led by Dawn Coufal, Will Steen, Hunter Stratton, and Jeffery White. Weaver took the Top Flurry spot, with Trent Determann, Garrett Gunter, Tyler Martin, and John Weihe. Many teams vied for the coveted Dead Ass Last trophy, and the lucky team from Crystaphase included Chris Alexander, Brad Glover, Sravan Pappu, and Austin Schneider.
