Music of the night
Congregation Emanu El Sisterhood’s annual fundraiser focusing on inclusion in the theatre arts brought together 450 in-person and more than 50 at-home viewers for an evening of music. This year’s event, titled Music of the Night, A Masked Affair…a little bit of Purim, a little bit of Broadway began with a video tribute and performance by Temple leadership, Sisterhood members, and choir honoring Dolores Wilkenfeld, and a welcome from Kathy Parven, event chair and Sisterhood fundraising vice president. The show began with stars Andrea McArdle and Adam Pascal, accompanied by Seth Rudetsky. Together they performed more than a dozen Broadway songs before being joined by the students from TUTS’ The River program, which provides affordable, accessible arts education to people with disabilities. Parven and Sisterhood president Carol Sue Zionts presented generous checks to The Actors Fund, The River, and the Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) to support Ukrainian humanitarian relief efforts. The concert ended with a touching rendition of “Tomorrow” from Annie by Andrea McArdle, who shared that she is of Ukrainian descent. The performers are (from left): Jake Hurst, Abby Yadan, Mateo Villareal, Seth Rudetsky, Riley Neal, Andrea McArdle, Jessie Vance, Adam Pascal, Lia Zitvar, Mariah Cooper, and Brennan Emeka.
