Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend

Happy Friday! Here are some fun weekend highlights around Houston: 

West U’s Party on the Patio
The City of West University Place Parks & Recreation and Friends of West University Parks Fund hosts its annual Party on the Patio Concert Series this summer with free concerts on the wooden deck at Colonial Park Pool. The party continues this Friday from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. with live music from Runaway Radio. The event is complimentary, but if you wish to swim, regular pool admission applies. 

Rainbow on the Green
Legacy Community Health presents Rainbow on the Green, Discovery Green’s annual LGBTQ+ celebration, Friday, 7-10 p.m. An array of drag queens including Angelina DM Traitz, Serena, and Hu’Nee Bee and native-Houstonian performers Christina Wells and The Kinsey Sicks will be entertaining. KPRC’s Houston Life host and three-time Emmy winner Derrick Shore will emcee the evening along with DJ Joe Ross.  

MoonStrike at Miller Outdoor Theatre
Hosted by Carnegie Hall sellout the Apollo Chamber Players, MoonStrike commends NASA and the Apollo space program through a culturally immersive lens of new music, American Indian inspired art, traditional Turkish music, and poetry this Friday from 8:30-10:30 p.m. Tickets are available on the Miller Outdoor Theatre website, but are not necessary if you choose to enjoy from the Hill!

Mud Day Celebration
The Nature Discovery Center celebrates International Mud Day this Saturday! Drop by anytime between 10 a.m.-12 p.m. to stomp in, paint with, or even build with mud for free. Wear old clothes and bring a beach towel.

Houston Pride LGBT+ Celebration 
PRIDE HOUSTON presents the 44th Annual Official Pride LGBT+ Celebration this Saturday from 1 p.m.-10 p.m. at City Hall! The festival features outdoor concerts, various entertainment, DJs, a Family Fun Zone, complemented by an exhibition and vendor booths. This lasts until 6:30 p.m., and will transition into the parade at 7 p.m. General Admission is free for both children under 12 and seniors over 60, and $5 for attendees ages 13-59. 

Chicago Fire FC at Houston Dynamo FC
The Dynamo takes on Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, 7 p.m., at PNC Stadium. Support the Houston Dynamos this weekend and enjoy two free beers and a Dynamo aluminum cup for $22.

The Taylor Party: Taylor Swift Night
Grab your fellow Swifties to live out your wildest dreams and dance the night away at White Oak Music Hall this Saturday at 9 p.m.! This show is $18 and open to fans 18+.
