Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! It’s looking like a chilly weekend ahead. Stay warm and enjoy holiday festivities around town. This Sunday marks the first night of Chanukah. Here are some fun events happening this weekend:
Santa Sightings in Bellaire
All week, Santa has been making stops around neighborhoods in Bellaire along with members of the Bellaire Police and Fire Departments. Tonight is the last night he will be saying hello to Bellaire neighbors. Listen for the sirens as Santa stops by the streets south of Bellaire/west of S. Rice tonight between 6-8:30 p.m.
Family Movie Night at Levy Park
Bundle up and watch holiday classic The Grinch (2018) with the family at the free outdoor screening, presented by Texas Children’s Hospital, at Levy Park this evening starting at 7 p.m.
Snow Days at Children's Museum Houston
Starting on Saturday, there is 100 percent chance of snow at Children’s Museum Houston! The courtyard will be transformed into a winter wonderland. Bring your mittens and play in the snow at the museum through Dec. 28. General admission.
Christmas on the Boulevard at St. John the Divine
The Church of St. John the Divine hosts its Christmas on the Boulevard on Saturday, including a family-friendly outdoor experience, Christmas concert, and a jazz reception. Starting at 4 p.m., there will be a live nativity, snow, and food trucks; a Christmas concert beginning at 5 p.m.; and a jazz reception at 6:15 p.m. Free to attend.
HTX Market at Evelyn’s Park
Browse handmade goods from a variety of vendors at Evelyn’s Park on Sunday, 12-4 p.m. If you’re looking for some last-minute holiday gifts to buy, make sure to stop by the market.
Bellaire Chanukah Festival
The Shul of Bellaire will host the 2022 Bellaire Chanukah Festival on Sunday, starting at 4 p.m. at Bellaire Town Square. Highlights include lighting a giant Menorah, inflatable fun, Sufganiot and Chocolate Gelt S’mores; crafts; a dinner buffet, and face painting. The annual event, which attracts over 500 people, will feature the Pardes Rock Band from Miami. Pardes, founded by Israeli American musicians, will play Israeli hit songs, American and British favorites, and some fun original material in both English and Hebrew. Admission: $8/child; $10/adult.
Chanukah in the Snow - Post Oak Menorah Lighting
Play in the snow and join for the Post Oak Menorah Lighting on Sunday, 4:30 p.m. Look forward to donuts, latkes, and drinks, a Chanukah craft, and a dreidel prize wheel. RSVP required.
Chanukah Menorah Parade and Menorah Lighting at Houston City Hall
Gather to light the Menorah at Houston City Hall on Sunday at 5:15 p.m. There will be addresses by dignitaries and elected officials, plus music, dreidels, sufganiot, gelt, and gifts for children. Leading up to the event at Houston City Hall, there will be a Menorah Parade to honor Houston-area first responders. Departing from Chabad Outreach Center, the parade will be escorted by motorcycle mounted policy traveling through Houston with music, lights, party buses, and a limo.
