The Friends of West University Parks held the 16th annual Fathers & Flashlights urban campout on the fields surrounding West University Elementary School. Event chairs Sarah Knysh, Katie Hill, and Kelly Beth Hapgood (pictured, from left) facilitated the cherished neighborhood event for 250 dads and more than 500 children that raised $137,000 for West U parks. Dads and kids pitched tents and enjoyed lawn games, exotic animal visits, a speed radar cage, face painting, catch-and-release fishing, a t-shirt tie dye station, inflatables, rock painting, and a magic performance. After a night under the stars, Sunday morning featured coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, and other breakfast treats.
