Mira Su Whaley
Recently, a West University Elementary School student accomplished an exciting feat and set some new goals for her upcoming year. Mira Su Whaley (pictured) ran a 5k in the B.I.G Love Cancer Care fundraising race. The race took place around the holidays and therefore was called Santa’s Dash. West University Elementary School families participate in fundraising for the event every year by collecting toys and games for the cancer patients who are supported through the charity. The race took place in Pearland and many onlookers cheered the participants on. This year, Mira Su raced in two triathlons and two 5k races. She has been practicing with coach Amanda Jehn of WUES since August. She is scheduled to race in the Texas Kids’ Triathlon in the spring. After that, her goal is to run a 10k race.
