Champion artist

Yorkshire Academy student Samia Adeshina (pictured, on left) was named Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program 2023 Elementary Class champion. Samia’s painting, “Guardians of the Fields,” was selected as one of 72 finalists from thousands of entries and was ultimately awarded the champion title. Created with tempura paint sticks and watercolor paints, Samia’s brightly colored work showcased her artistic talent. Samia’s interest in art dates back to her preschool days, but she says her genuine love of the craft began more recently. Along with her parents and art teacher Jacqui Stanley (pictured, on right), Samia received the award at a rodeo event, where she became the first Yorkshire Academy student to achieve the honor.
