Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday and happy St. Patrick’s Day! There are tons of fun events going on around town. Stay warm, stay dry, and enjoy the weekend. Highlights include:
St. Patrick’s Day Festival
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a 21+ festival downtown hosted by 94.5 The Buzz, Bud Light, and Lucky’s Pub. Taking place across three city blocks downtown across Texas Ave., there will be two stages with live music and DJs, green beer, leprechauns, bagpipers, food, and more. There are several ticket options, ranging from $10-60. Doors open today at 10 a.m. and the festival continues through 2 a.m. on Saturday.
St. Patrick’s Day at Saint Arnold Brewery
Saint Arnold Brewery hosts its annual St. Patrick’s Day event including beer, live entertainment, food, a local market, and more starting at 2 p.m. today. For live entertainment, Pipe Fooligan will perform on the drums and bagpipes, Jared Gibb with pub songs and covers, Clann Kelley with Irish dancing, and Das Ist Slainte with Irish tunes. Plus, the annual Donegal Beard Growing Competition kicks off at 7 p.m. No tickets needed.
RodeoHouston
It’s the last weekend of Rodeo, so be sure to get in your Rodeo fun while you still can! Performances this weekend are Cody Johnson (Friday), Brad Paisley (Saturday), and Luke Bryan (Sunday).
Destination Celebration: Spring Break at Children’s Museum Houston
Spring Break festivities continue at Children’s Museum Houston through this weekend. Special features this weekend include Spider-Verse Collision (Friday) with Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and more; Under the Big Top (Saturday) with Cirque La Vie; and Glow Hard or Glow Home (March 19), a colorful glow-in-the-dark party with DJ Ferbidden and local hula hoop master Amy Neel. Plus, there are tons of ongoing activities going on for the whole family.
Opening Weekend at Miller Outdoor Theatre
Tonight kicks off Miller Outdoor Theatre’s Opening Weekend for the season – and their 100th anniversary. Tonight, the Trinity Irish Dance Company performs, starting at 8 p.m. On Saturday, celebrate Miller’s 100th anniversary “Roaring 20s Style” at 6 p.m. Step out in your best 20s attire and mingle with vaudeville performers, photo installations, live mural painting, swing dance lessons and more, followed by a special performance from jazz band The Hot Sardines at 8. All performances at Miller Outdoor are free.
The Rink at Discovery Green
Last call to skate around Discovery Green’s outdoor roller rink! Originally slated to close tonight, March 17, the Rink will now be open through Sunday.
Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival
Enjoy live entertainment, view cutting0edge space technology, meet astronauts, and more at Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival, which continues through this Sunday. Performances include Sister Hazel (Friday, 5:30 p.m.); Rick Springfield (Saturday, 5:30 p.m.); and Bidi Bidi Banda (Sunday, 3 pm.). General admission starts at $30 for adults and $25 for children.
Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl
The annual 21+ bar crawl will send attendees through seven stops in Midtown, starting with the check-in at Front Porch Pub. The bar crawl takes place today starting at 4 p.m. and Saturday starting at 4 p.m.
Houston Rockets vs. New Orleans Pelicans
The Rockets take on the Pelicans Friday, 7 p.m., and Sunday, 6 p.m. at Toyota Center. See tickets here.
Houston Dynamo Home Opener
The 2023 Home Opener for the Dynamo, vs. Austin FC, takes place Saturday, 7:30 p.m. at Shell Energy Stadium.
