When six friends started playing sports together in prekindergarten, they never dreamed they would all end up signing with Division 1 field hockey programs. The lifelong friends will soon graduate from The Kinkaid School and each recently committed to continue her field hockey career at a top program. It started when the four-year-olds enrolled at Kinkaid. The group of girls played together on the same teams for a variety of sports over the years, including soccer, softball, and basketball, often coached by Mia Abello’s dad, Carlos. All six joined the Texas Pride field hockey program and then the Kinkaid varsity field hockey team where they each served as captain. Known as “lifers,” the girls have been at Kinkaid from prekindergarten through 12th grade and will split up for the first time this fall when they head to different universities and playing fields. Pictured from left with their college pennants are: Kate Consoli (Columbia University), Mia Abello (University of Virginia), Kyle Massey (Duke University), Sarah Grace Raynes (Wake Forest University), Hope Haynes (University of North Carolina), and Claire Nockolds (Stanford University).
