A Houston Summer of Music: Concert Roundup
Houston has always been known to be a hub for creativity and specifically music creation. Houstonians truly embrace the culture that surrounds the music we all love so much, and we welcome our favorite artists with open arms. Not only are there so many different venues for music in Houston but there is also such a wide range of the types of artists that tour in Houston. We have everything from afro-beats to metal, to country to hip-hop. This summer there are a ton of options for music connoisseurs to choose from. So, if you’re looking to try something new and explore different genres there will be plenty of opportunity to indulge this summer.
June 8
Boygenius with Bartees Strange [White Oak Music Hall, 6 p.m.]
Boygenius is a group comprised of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus. The group just released their first studio album in March of this year titled The Record. The group will be performing with Bartees Strange, an alternative singer-songwriter most known for songs like “Mulholland Dr.” and “Heavy Heart” from his 2022 album Farm to Table. On other tour dates Boygenius collabed with Clairo, Dijon, Claud, as well as Muna. General admission tickets start at $85.
Baby Rose [The Bronze Peacock at House of Blues, 7 p.m.]
Baby Rose is a R&B/Soul independent artist and is embarking on her “Through the Soul” North American tour. Baby Rose has a unique and rich voice that sets her apart from her counters. If you’re looking for something different and eccentric this show will be great. Baby Rose is touring her new album titled Through and Through. A standout single from Baby Rose is “I won’t tell” featuring Smino. General admission tickets will start at $25.
June 9
La Luz [White Oak Music hall, 8 p.m.]
La Luz is an alternative/Indie rock band based out of Los Angeles, California. The members of the group are Shana Cleveland, Marian Li Pino, Alice Sandahl, and Abbey Blackwell. Collectively the group has released four studio albums with their self-titled La Luz being their most recent release. Some of their most popular releases are “Floating Features,” “Sure as Spring,” and “I can’t Speak.” General admission tickets are $20.
Gimme Gimme Disco (18+) [White Oak Music Hall, 9 p.m.]
Gimme Gimme Disco is a DJ based dance party (tour) Inspired by Abba and '70s and '80s disco hits. They are inspired by other artists like the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, as well as Cher! So, if you’re into dancing and '70s music, this is the place for you! Tickets are $18 to enter.
Duran Duran [The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 7 p.m.]
Duran Duran is an English rock band out of Birmingham, UK. Their sound experiments with synth-pop and dance-rock sounds. The group is going on their “Future Past” North American tour. Their latest album is Future Past and the most influential songs from this project are “Invisible,” “All of You,” and “Give it All Up.” General admission will start at $30.

The Rocket Summer with Hellogoodbye [The Bronze Peacock at House of Blues, 7:30 p.m.]
The Rocket Summer is the self-contained solo project of Bryce Avary. His latest studio album is Shadowkasters. This project is alternative and experiments with indie and pop sounds. The Rocket Summer will be performing with pop rock band Hellogoodbye. Hellogoodbye’s last studio album was released in 2019 and is titled S’only Natural. General admission is $25.

Power Fest Houston 2023 [Midtown Park]
Power Fest is a Latin American music festival held by Latin radio station Power 105.3fm. The festival seeks to bring Latin American culture to Houston and to celebrate the creativity and innovation of Latin artists. The lineup consists of Oscar D’ León, Karlos Rosé, Monchy, Jiory, J Alvarez, Los Hermanos Flores, and more. General admission starts at $30.
June 14
Logic with Juicy J [713 Music Hall, 8 p.m.]
Rapper/producer Logic is on “The College Park tour” for his latest album College Park, which was released in February of this year. Fans may know him best for his 2017 single titled “1-800-273-8255” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, which brought awareness to suicide prevention and the realities of battling mental health. Logic is joined on his tour by Juicy J who is also a rapper and will be performing hits from his newest project Mental Trillness. General admission starts at $40.
Brit Floyd-Pink Floyd Tribute [Bayou Music Center, 8 p.m.]
Brit Floyd was formed in 2011 by Damian Darlington and the band seeks to emulate Pink Floyd’s art production and style. By celebrating and paying tribute to the original groups sound. Occasionally members of the Pink Floyd camp perform with Brit Floyd and fans are immersed with nostalgia and different takes on classics. General admission starts at $25.

Ava Max [House of Blues, 7 p.m.]
Ava Max is a pop singer and is signed with Atlantic Records. She is on her “Finally” tour for her latest project titled Diamonds & Dancefloors. Ava is also featured on the upcoming soundtrack (available July 21) for the film Barbie. The soundtrack is executively produced by renowned producer and engineer Mark Ronson. General admission starts at $35.

Jill Scott [Smart Financial Centre, 8 p.m.]
Jill Scott is a singer, songwriter, and actress known for her gospel-esque voice with soul undertones. Jill is on her “Who is Jill Scott? Words & Sounds Vol.1” Anniversary tour. Arguably one of her best albums, Words & Sounds was released in 2000 and Jill is paying homage to some of her greatest work. General admission starts at $55.

Ángela Aguilar [713 Music Hall, 8 p.m.]
Ángela is a Mexican American pop/Mexicana singer from Los Angeles, California. She is on her domestic “Piensa en Mi” tour and is on the heels of her latest single release entitled “Brillante Sobre el Mic” which was released in April. General admission starts at $60.

Pixies with Franz Ferdinand and Bully [Bayou Music Center, 7 p.m.]
The Pixies are an American alternative rock band and have produced countless live and studio albums. Their most popular projects are Doolittle, Surfer Rosa, and Bossanova. They are in their North American leg of their tour. The Pixies will be joined by Franz Ferdinand and Bully. Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish rock band that delves into alternative/indie sounds and Bully is a rock/indie duo with Stewart Copeland and Casey Weissbuch. General admission starts at $50.
Ab-Soul [The Bronze Peacock at The House of Blues, 7 p.m.]
Ab-Soul is a singer/songwriter/rapper from Los Angeles, California. He is currently signed to TDE, which is a label home to artists like Sza, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Schoolboy Q. Ab-Soul has worked on projects with artists like Jhene Aiko, Kendrick Lamar, and Mac Miller. Ab-Soul is touring this summer for his “Intelligent Movement” tour. General admission starts at $25.

Hotel Ugly [White Oak Music Hall, 8 p.m.]
Hotel Ugly is a Houston native indie rock band. The band blew up because of their hit song “Shut up My Moms Calling.” The song got its fame from TikTok users and from there the group grew exponentially in Spotify streams. As a part of the “Ugly Experience” the group will be performing here and in Chicago for one night for their newest project Ugly Duck. General admission starts at $40.
June 25
D4vd [White Oak Music Hall, 7 p.m.]
D4vd is a Houston native and is a TikTok sensation. His single “Romantic Homicide” launched him to number 33 on the Billboard charts. D4vd is on his “Petals to Thorns” tour which will take place in Europe and North America. He just released “Petals to Thorns” the EP about a week ago and fans are loving “This is how it feels” and “ The Bridge”. General admission starts at $30.
TWICE [Toyota Center, 7:30 p.m.]
TWICE is a South Korean pop girl group. The girls are on their fifth world tour “Ready to be,” debuting their newest studio album Ready To Be. The group will be here for back-to-back nights at the Toyota Center. General admission starts at $215.

Bebe Rexha [House of Blues, 6:30 p.m.]
Bebe Rexha is an American singer/songwriter and produces pop music that ventures into electronic and an upbeat sound. She is debuting her self-titled album Bebe on the “Best F*n Night of My Life” tour. General admission starts at $40.
July 2
ILLENIUM [713 Music Hall, 7 p.m.]
ILLENIUM is a DJ, producer, and songwriter. He dabbles in electronic/rock, dubstep, as well as dance/house music. On his world “ILLENIUM live” tour he will be joined by many special guests like Blanke and Annika Wells. ILLENIUM just released a self-titled album and has features from people like Travis Barker, Avril Lavigne, and JVKE. General admission starts at $60.
RuPaul’s Drag Race- Werq the World [Smart Financial Centre, 8 p.m.]
The “Werq the World” tour features drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race. The tour was created by Brandon Voss and Shangela. The show is produced by Voss Events, VH1, and World of Wonder. Fans of the show and just fans of drag in general have the chance for a night in the world of the drag kingdom! General admission starts at $70. 18+.
July 7
Davido [Toyota Center, 7 p.m.]
Davido is an American-Nigerian singer/songwriter that makes afrobeat music. His latest project is titled Timeless and features people like Skepta and Asake. General admission sales start at $70.
Eslabon Armado [Smart Financial Centre, 8 p.m.]
Eslabon Armado is a Mexican group with Pedro Tovar, Brian Tovar, and Gabriel Hidalgo. Their popular songs are “Jugaste y Sufrí,” “Con Tus Besos,” and “Ella Baila Sola.” General admission starts at $90.
July 8
Blink-182 with Turnstile [Toyota Center, 7:30 p.m.]
Blink-182 is an American Rock Band with drummer Travis Barker, bassist Mark Hoppus, and guitarist Tom DeLonge. They recently headlined Coachella and they are on their world tour right now. Arguably their most popular record is Enema of the State. General admission starts at $120.
Don Toliver [713 Music Hall, 8 p.m.]
Don Toliver is a rapper based in Los Angeles, Calif. He is on tour for his newest album Lovesick. Don recently performed at Coachella with Metro Boomin as well as Kali Uchis. Fans love him for his projects like Heaven or Hell or any features he works on with the Cactus Jack collective. General admission starts at $105.

The Frights with Sad Park [White Oak Music Hall, 7 p.m.]
The Frights are an American surf punk band from Poway, Calif. The group is formed by Mikey Carnevale, Richard Dotson, Marc Finn, and Jordan Clark. They are on their “Gallows Humor” tour with the band Sad Park. General admission is $20.
The Rare Occasions [Warehouse Live, 8 p.m.]
The Rare Occasions are an Indie rock band and have released two studio albums. Their most popular singles are “Notion,” “Origami,” and “Backwards.” General admission starts at $44.
July 11
Paramore [Toyota Center, 7 p.m.]
Paramore is an alternative indie band and was originally formed in 2004. They have just released their latest album This is Why in February of this year. Some of my recommendations from the album are “Thick Skull,” “This is Why,” and “Running Out of Time.” They will be joined on their North American tour by special guests Genesis Owusu and The Linda Lindas. General admission starts at $60.
July 15
Reggae Fest [Bayou Music Center, 9 p.m.]
Reggae Fest is one of the biggest Afro/Caribbean dance parties in the US. There will be dancing and DJ’s featuring music like Dancehall, Afrobeats, Soca, Reggaeton, and Amapiano. Tickets start at $20. 21+
Houtopia Ranch Fest [BH Ranch, 5 p.m.-12 a.m.]
This Houston music festival will feature headliners like Mr. Wired Up, Brick Wolfpack, Idontknowjeffery, and more. There will be performances, food, waterslides, and many more festivities. General admission starts at $20.

Kolby Cooper [White Oak Music Hall, 8 p.m.]
Kolby Cooper is a country music singer and is on his domestic tour. His last project released was Boy From Anderson County to The Moon. General admission starts at $20.

Lil Baby with The Kid laroi, Glorilla, and more [Toyota Center, 7 p.m.]
Lil Baby is an American rapper and is on his “It’s Only Us” tour with special guests The Kid Laroi, Glorilla, Coi Le Ray, and more. His most popular songs are “Drip too Hard,” “Yes Indeed" ft Drake, “Freestyle,” and “Wants and Needs” (feature). General admission starts at $90.

Jidenna [House of Blues, 7 p.m.]
Jidenna is a R&B singer/rapper who is signed to Wondaland records. Jidenna is on his “Silk Road” tour, touring for his new album ME YOU & GOD. Jidenna is most popular for his singles “Classic man” and “Yoga.” General admission starts at $30.
Greta Van Fleet with Kaleo [Toyota Center, 7:30 p.m.]
Greta Van Fleet is an American rock band from Frankenmuth, Michigan. The collective has released three studio albums and is releasing a new project titled Starcatcher this July. General admission starts at $70.
Rema [Bayou Music Center, 8 p.m.]
Rema is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. He is on his “Rave and Roses” North American tour II. Rave and Roses is an afrobeats project with features from 6LACK and Chris Brown. General admission starts at $50.

Kenny Loggins with Yacht Rock Revue [Smart Financial Centre, 8 p.m.]
Kenny Loggins is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was featured in the original Top Gun soundtrack for his songs “Danger Zone” and “Playing with the boys” as well as the Footloose soundtrack for his songs “Footloose” and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man)”. He also has a feature in Thundercat’s song “Show you the way.” General admission starts at $120.
Aug. 8
Post Malone [The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 7 p.m.]
Post Malone is a rapper, singer, songwriter from New York. He is on his “If Y’all weren’t here I’d be crying” tour. His newest album AUSTIN will be releasing July 28. The two singles for this project are “Chemical” and “Mourning.” General admission starts at $180.

5 Seconds of Summer [The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 7 p.m.]
5 Seconds of Summer is an Australian pop/rock band. They have released seven studio albums and just released “The Feeling of Falling Upwards (Live from The Royal Albert Hall)” in April. General admission starting at $30.
Sept. 17-18
Drake w/ 21 Savage [Toyota Center, 7 p.m. both days]
Rappers Drake and 21 Savage are on their “It’s All A Blur” tour for their newest collaborative project entitled Her Loss. Fans of the duo have been anticipating this tour since this album dropped in November of last year. Drake has performed here and there at festivals or on other artists tours but the last time toured was in 2018 with the Migos. This show is long awaited and basically broke Ticketmaster with the amount of traffic on the site from eager fans just to even get in the queue. Tickets start at $300 for resale.
Sept. 23-24
Beyoncé [Toyota Center, 7 p.m. both days]
Beyoncé Knowles is a Houston native singer/songwriter. Queen Bey is on tour for her newest album Renaissance, which is an infusion of pop/house/dance music. This is volume one of a suspected two-part project. The tour started overseas and is slowly moving towards the US. Fans are loving this new era of Beyoncé because she seems more relaxed and is really having fun with her shows for this tour. Because she is from Houston this show will be an important one and will be a night to remember for anyone attending! Tickets start at around $250.
Oct. 14
Sza [Toyota Center, 8 p.m.]
Sza is a singer/songwriter signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. Sza is on her Euro/North American tour for her long-awaited album SOS. The record is a R&B/pop album and is fairly different from her last album CTRL which is a classic within the R&B world. SOS takes on a hindsight view of Sza’s life and reflects on the raptures of love and loss. Fans feel very connected to her on this tour and are ecstatic that she’s back and engaging with her fans.
