An evening with Vanessa Williams

Host committee chairs Luis and Stacy Soefer Gomar along with Bill Baldwin, Barbara J. Herz, and Fady Armanious joined more than 1,100 guests at the Hilton Americas Hotel for Holocaust Museum Houston’s 2023 Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award dinner, featuring award-winning actress and singer Vanessa Williams. Dr. Maria Elena Bottazzi and Dr. Peter Hotez were honored with the LBJ Moral Courage Award at the event that raised $1.7 million for museum programming. The award recognized Drs. Hotez and Bottazzi for their work as co-directors of the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital and dean and senior associate dean at the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Hallie Vanderhider served as honorary event chair, with honorary vice chairs Paula Goldstein, Laura and Rick Jaramillo, Mady and Ken Kades, Brigitte and Bashar Kalai, Eileen and Kase Lawal, Donna and Norman Lewis, Edna Meyer-Nelson, Dr. Laura Murillo, Sylvia and Gordon Quan, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Margaret Alkek Williams, and Cyvia Wolff.
