High-precision creation

Since I was five, I have had a fascination for building things. I would spend hours building the latest Lego sets only to destroy them moments later to “create something original.” My parents were not amused. My Lego sets that would now be worth many thousands of dollars lie tucked away in a bin. Lost Lego sets aside, the passion for creating has remained with me throughout my life, albeit in increasingly expensive creations. From building custom computers, to creating custom mechanical keyboards, I am never deterred by the challenge of creating something new.

Eventually, I stumbled upon the concept of CNC machining, the power of precise computerized control. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) cuts with a level of precision that is unachievable with hand tools. After nearly two years of self-education, I began the challenge of building my own CNC machine. With help from my parents with materials and help from a friend for construction, I was able to build my very own CNC machine. The strenuous process of building the machine developed my knowledge of engineering, as well as my passion for working with metal and wood. I knew that with the skills and tools I acquired, the possibilities were endless. 

In an effort to combine my love for music and my passion for craftsmanship, I set out to build a custom electric guitar. As a longtime classical guitar player, I knew building an electric guitar was the perfect project to take on. Over the course of three weeks, I researched, designed, and made my guitar from premium materials using my CNC machine and woodworking tools. The instrument construction process was very difficult, but I learned a lot from it and look forward to improving the next build. As I move forward, I hope to continue being creative and inspire others to be creators too. Though learning any specialized skill is difficult, all innovators and inventors should feel eager to take on challenges. Whether you are a student or a hobbyist, with perseverance, you can realize your concepts.
