Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Weekend
Happy Friday! This weekend holds lots of excitement for Houstonians, including a watch party in the streets of downtown for the Texans' playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Other weekend highlights include the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center's Arbor Day Celebration, Children’s Texas Art Festival at Bayou Bend, and more.
Houston Arboretum & Nature Center's Arbor Day Celebration
This Saturday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Houston Arboretum & Nature Center hosts its free annual Arbor Day Celebration, where guests can recognize the importance of trees and experience the flavors of the forest. Meet Johnny Appleseed and try some apple cider, learn how bees use trees to make honey, go on a hike to discover how trees feed wildlife, and more. There will be plenty of tree activities and crafts to enjoy. Crafts will be available while supplies last.
Children's Museum Houston Peace of Mind
Find inner peace this Saturday with music therapy workshops and adorable therapy dogs at Children's Museum Houston from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. The event is included with admission, which is $17 for adults and children over 1.
Houston Astros FanFest
Gather with fellow Astros fans on Saturday for Astros FanFest from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., where you can find your favorite players, alumni, and broadcasters. FanFest is the official kickoff to the 2024 season. It will feature autograph sessions, photo opportunities, the 2017 & 2022 World Series Trophies, games and more. Vouchers for Astros FanFest are $1, with proceeds benefiting the Astros Foundation.
UH Cougars vs. UCF Knights
On Saturday at 1 p.m., Houston's own UH Coogs face off against the UCF Knights in a Big 12 matchup at Fertitta Center. Tickets are $30.
Houston Texans Official Watch Party Powered by Reliant
Join Texans fans for a free watch party in the streets of downtown Houston on Saturday, starting at 1:30 p.m. Giant LED screens will show the Texans game against the Baltimore Ravens, with kickoff at 3:30 p.m. This is an all-ages, outdoor event on the Plaza at Avenida Houston in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center. Fans may bring lawn chairs and blankets. Warm clothing options are encouraged. This is a non-ticketed event; walk-ups are encouraged.
Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz
This Saturday night, the Houston Rockets play the Utah Jazz in the Toyota Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the game starts at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $15.
Children’s Texas Art Festival at Bayou Bend
The Children’s Texas Art Festival is a free festival celebrating children's art that helps forge a connection to Texas and American heritage. The festival will take place on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. The festival will include live performances, painting, woodwork, and forging demonstrations, and more.
Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics
The Houston Rockets compete against the Boston Celtics this Sunday night at 6 p.m. in Toyota Center. It's also Faith & Family night, so fans can stick around for music and worship with musicians Danny Gokey and Evan Craft. Tickets start at $22.
