Leticia and Steve Trauber (pictured) attended The Holdsworth Center’s Champions of Hope gala at the Corinthian. The Holdworth Center, a nonprofit founded in 2017 by H-E-B chairman Charles Butt, provides leadership development programs for teachers in Texas public schools. This year, the Center created a new award, the Dr. Ruth J. Simmons Leadership in Public Education Award. Appropriately, this inaugural award was given to its namesake, Dr. Simmons, former president of Prairie View A&M University, to recognize her work in public education. Wallace Jefferson, former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, served as emcee for the evening, and Dr. Robert M. Gates, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, delivered the keynote address. Charles Butt was honorary event chair, along with co-chairs Dr. Robert and Becky Gates, Rob Kaplan and Ronel Golden, Wallace and Renee Knake Jefferson, Jim and Beverly Postl, Ann and Karl Stern, and Memo and Tammy Treviño.
