Honoring moral courage

Ken and Mady Kades, Barbara J. Herz, Frank and Stephanie Tsuru and Cheryl and Stephen Golub joined 1,000 other guests at the Holocaust Museum Houston’s 2024 Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award Dinner, which raised nearly $1.3 million for museum operating funds and educational programming. The award is given to people who have taken a stand against injustice, hatred, and prejudice, and this year’s award was presented to The Honorable Stuart E. Eizenstat who served in six U.S. administrations, under Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Carter, Clinton, Obama, Trump, and Biden. Eizenstat is also the Special Negotiator for the Jewish Claims Conference with Germany on behalf of Holocaust survivors, and senior counsel at Covington & Burling LLP. Dana Bash, CNN anchor and chief political correspondent, served as moderator for a conversation with Eizenstat and Marion Ein Lewin, his partner, who is a Holocaust survivor. Dinner chairs Stephanie and Frank Tsuru, along with host committee chairs Heidi and David Gerger and Leisa Holland-Nelson Bowman, led the fundraising efforts. Sue Smith served as honorary chair, with honorary vice chairs Donna Fujimoto Cole, Nancy and Jack Dinerstein, Elaine Finger, Patti and Mike Morgan, Carol and David Neuberger, Jeri and Marc Shapiro, Ileana and Michael Treviño, and Kay and The Honorable Fred Zeidman.
