For the past four years, I have been involved in musical theatre. I am very passionate about acting, singing, and dancing (as of recently). I am even going to start tap and jazz dance classes this year. My journey started in second grade, when I participated in Celebration, a Christmas show at First Baptist Church. I loved how upbeat it was! I would also go with my friend to watch her older sister perform in shows at Queensbury Theatre, and I loved it. Luckily, I inherited a good voice from my dad and grandma, so I joined Queensbury Theatre in third grade.
My favorite show that I have been in was Xanadu because I got to be on roller skates and talk in a funny Australian accent that was supposed to sound bad. I love acting because I can put myself in my characters’ shoes and feel and experience new things. I am also very thankful for all the friendships I have made along the way. One of my best friends, Elinor, is someone that I met during the Xanadu show. She was my double cast, so we played the same character and got to rehearse together. She’s in the grade above me, so we haven’t been in shows together since, but I am joining her age division in the spring, and I am very excited.
One of my favorite memories was when I was in Into the Woods Junior, and my birthday fell on one of the show nights, so all my friends and family came to see me. I remember going to see them after the show and being overwhelmed with joy and support. That is a memory I will keep close to my heart, and I am so grateful for Queensbury. I know stage fright and nerves are scary, but if you want to perform, I think you should. As soon as I step on the stage, everything feels okay!
