2024 Olympics and Watch Party for Houstonian Jeffrey Louis
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris continues through this Sun., Aug. 11. Cheer on Team USA, including some Houstonians such as Jeffrey Louis aka B-Boy Jeffro, who’s competing in the first-ever Olympic breaking competition. Dance Houston is hosting a watch party for B-Boy Jeffro. Wear your red, white, and blue and join at Buffalo Wild Wings on the Katy Freeway this Saturday, starting with the Quarterfinals at 1 p.m.
The POST continues to show the majority of the Olympic games on two transparent 16’ x 10’ LED TV screens suspended from the ceiling.

Faux-Lympics at Children’s Museum Houston
Children’s Museum Houston is giving kids the opportunity to get in the Olympics spirit with the Faux-lympics, which takes place through this Sun., Aug. 11, like the Olympic Games. This weekend, compete in events such as Freeze Dance, Sponge Relay, and Dunk Tank “Diving.” And make sure to catch the Break Free Worldwide Spotlight Performance today at 3 and 4 p.m. Now an official Olympic sport, learn about the origins of breaking and learn some moves yourself.
Houston Shakespeare Festival's 50th Anniversary Season
The Houston Shakespeare Festival, the professional arm of the University of Houston’s School of Theater and Dance, celebrates its 50th anniversary season with performances of Romeo & Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream at Miller Outdoor Theatre. This is the final weekend of the popular festival. Catch A Midsummer Night’s Dream tonight, 8:15 p.m. (Bard Talk: 7:45 p.m.) and Romeo and Juliet Saturday, 8:15 p.m. (Bard Talk: 7:45 p.m.)
Sugar Land Space Cowboys vs. El Paso Chihuahuas
Sugar Land Space Cowboys take on El Paso Chihuahas at Constellation Field. The weekend lineup includes: Friday, 7:05 p.m.: Fireworks Friday; Saturday, 7:05 p.m.: Justin Verlander bobblehead giveaway; Sunday, 6:35 p.m.: Orion's Kids Day. Enjoy pregame catch on the field, pregame player autographs and postgame Kids Run the Bases every Sunday home game. Tickets start at $11.
2024 Houston Reggae Fest
Enjoy reggae tunes at the 2024 Houston Reggae Fest, held at Hermann Square Park this Saturday and Sunday. There will be a variety of local vendors spread out around the festival site. Tickets start at $30.
Annual Watermelon Dash
Houston Running Co. hosts its annual Watermelon Dash featuring a 10K, 5K, and a Kids/Family walk at Karbach Brewing, Saturday, 7:30 a.m. All participants receive a chip-timed race, Watermelon Dash finisher medal, and unisex t-shirt. Kids K participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. Join in the fun after the race with food and drink, music, and great fun for the whole family. Tickets are $55.
Galveston Family Beach Challenge at East Beach
Get ready for friendly competition at a free family fun day on the island at the Galveston Family Beach Challenge at East Beach. Featuring 14 stations designed for anyone over the age of 8 to participate, the beachside course will see families competing to win up to $2,000 in prizes.
Texans’ Training Camp
Join the Texans for Training Camp. This Sunday is a night practice, with gates opening at 4:30 and practice starting at 5:30 p.m. each open practice will include fan giveaways such as cooling and jersey towels at the Xfinity tent, player autograph sessions, influencer appearances, and full Houston Texans Cheerleader signings and legends appearances.
