Carnegie Vanguard High School: The Largest Family You’ll Ever Find
In a world where high schools may feel impersonal, Carnegie offers a refreshing change. Here, every student is known, every teacher cares, and our school feels like a second home. It is far more than just a place to learn- it’s a community where the students, teachers, and even parents, come together for a unique high school experience.
One of the most cherished aspects of our school is the close relationships that make Carnegie feel like one large family. These bonds aren’t just built in the classroom though, they're strengthened through events that bring us together outside of school. A recent example of this connection was a PTO-hosted bowling event. The event invited students from all grade levels, giving them a chance to connect with peers from across Carnegie. Junior Coslee Price said, “The event was so much fun, I got to hang out with people that I don’t normally talk to.”
While events like the PTO bowling event help break down social barriers and foster relationships across grade levels in a casual, small-scale setting, Carnegie’s sense of community extends even further. Our vibrant student community takes pride in organizing larger traditions, such as the annual International Festival, that bring most of our student body and students from other high schools to Carnegie to celebrate our diversity and spirit. As the most popular Carnegie event and biggest fundraiser for the school, I-Fest brings together students of many different cultures through food, dancing, and fun. The event is organized by Interact, a completely student-run club that has grown into Carnegie’s largest club, symbolizing the initiative and leadership of the Carnegie student body.
Beyond the clubs and events, the real secret to the family community established within Carnegie is the students. Carnegie students take pride in truly knowing each other- both inside and outside the classroom. In class, when somebody is struggling to grasp a lesson, there is always another classmate eager to assist. As we help each other in class, mutual support is fostered, creating a collaborative atmosphere that not only enhances our learning experience but also strengthens the bonds between us students, making our school truly unique. Whether we’re collaborating on a project, helping each other prepare for tests, or simply laughing together at lunch, it’s clear that the people truly make the place, or in this case, the students make Carnegie family.
