Back to the ’80s
Evelyn’s Park supporters were transported back a few decades with retro ’80s décor and video games, and partied like it was 1989, at the ’80’s in the Park gala benefiting Evelyn’s Park Conservancy. This year’s gala honored the life of Susan Farb Morris, a local icon known as “Houston’s PR fairy,” who tragically passed away earlier this year and was a big supporter of the park. During the gala, a video montage was played in her honor, created by Spectrum Fusion Studios, a nonprofit organization that employs talented creatives on the autism spectrum; Susan was an advocate for Spectrum Fusion, along with many other Houston nonprofits. During the gala, hundreds of guests enjoyed dinner, dancing (including the Moonwalk with “Michael Jackson”), drinks, and an auction, along with playing Pac-Man and pinball, to raise funds to continue improvements to the beloved community park. Pictured are Terry Leavitt-Chavez, park director at Evelyn’s Park, and David Morris.
