100 flights and rides for cancer treatment
Friends Paul Marvin and Scott Humphries (pictured, from left) help transport cancer patients to their necessary treatments. Marvin volunteers for Houston Ground Angels, an organization that offers medical ground transportation, and Humphries gives his time to Angel Flight, a free air-transportation service to patients coming to Houston for treatment. Two years ago, Marvin mentioned to Humphries that he was semi-retiring from his corporate CFO life and was looking for volunteer opportunities. Humphries, an attorney and owner of Humphries Aviation, has been a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight for many years, and the two began discussing the organizations. In January 2024, Marvin’s mother celebrated her 100th birthday and passed away a week later. To honor her memory, Marvin decided to drive 100 Ground Angel missions the next month, and Humphries aimed to complete his 100th Angel Flight mission during the same time period. Both men successfully completed their “100” milestones and plan to keep giving rides to people who need them in the future.
