Bumper Cars on Ice kicked off this week! Slip, slide, spin and crash with Bumper Cars on Ice, new this year at Discovery Green. This timeless amusement ride gets an updated twist at Houston’s only outdoor ice-skating rink. No license or experience needed to drive! Children must be taller than 42 inches to ride.

Friday and Saturday are the last days to celebrate the holidays at Winter Wonderlawn at POST Houston! The five-acre rooftop Skylawn is decked out with thousands of beautifully illuminated holiday lights and festive decor, including a 25-foot Christmas tree and multiple holiday-themed activations, all with the downtown Houston skyline as the backdrop.

Experience the joy of kakizome (the first calligraphy of the year), decorate your own hagoita (battledore), create a daruma woodblock print, try your hand at origami, pound mochi, and so much more! Don’t miss out on this unforgettable celebration of Japanese culture and New Year’s traditions.
Super Saturday: Journey to the Moon

Houston, we have a problem — the International Space Academy’s mission to the Moon is thrown into disarray, and it is up to you and your fellow space cadets to solve! Along the way, the cadets will meet historical and mythological characters from Asia, learn about the importance of the Moon to Earth, journey through the exhibition Space City: Art in the Age of Artemis, and use teamwork to complete a series of tasks that will get everyone to the Moon!
Super Saturday Events: Dive into diverse arts and cultural traditions across Asia in all-ages Super Saturday events each month! Designed for kids and adults alike, each Super Saturday features hands-on activities and includes complimentary access to the Explore Asia exhibition and the Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery.

On the second Saturday of each month, enjoy an afternoon of artistic discovery at Sawyer Yards! From 12-5pm, explore six transformed warehouses brimming with creativity. Stroll through a vibrant array of paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photography, clothing, textiles, printmaking, mixed media, and so much more. Engage with talented artists, delve into their fascinating works, and perhaps even find the perfect piece to take home. This inspiring event is free and open to everyone, so grab your friends and immerse yourself in the art-filled excitement of Second Saturday!
Broken Pot Fairy Gardens at Houston Botanic Garden

Non-member fee of $45 includes general admission to the Garden. Garden members receive a $10 discount.
Don’t cry over a broken pot. Turn it into a multi-level fairy dream house! Erin Mills, the Garden’s associate director of family programs, will inspire you to tap into your creative side and repurpose what might otherwise be trash into something really fun. All materials included. Just bring your imagination. This is a great collaborative craft for family and friends. Any additional helper(s) will need a general admission ticket(s) of their own to help craft the one take-home broken pot fairy garden included with class registration.

Trains Over Texas at HMNS

Travel across Texas by model railroad in this scratch built “O” scale model. The multiple trains crisscrossing the state will visit important and unique places in the state’s geology and physiography. Destinations include oil country salt domes, prairies and wetlands of the Texas coast and state and national monuments such as Enchanted Rock, Pedernales Falls, The Balcones Escarpment and Big Bend National Park. Along the routes to these geologic wonders the trains will also pass through Galveston, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio with other surprises along the route. This exhibit is the largest indoor “O” scale model railroad in Texas.
