Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green

Glide beneath the glittering lights of downtown Houston and discover the holiday magic on Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green! Skaters must sign a waiver online after purchasing tickets. E-tickets will not be sent until the waiver is completed. All skaters must have a pre-purchased ticket to enter the venue. (Skating guests under the age of 12 may have a parent or guardian accompany them.) Tickets are available online only. Please purchase a ticket before paying for parking. 

Hours:

• Daily: Monday–Thursday 5– 10 p.m. ; Fridays 5–11 p.m.; Saturday & HISD School Holidays* 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
• Holidays: Thanksgiving Day 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve    11 a.m.–7 p.m. ; Christmas Day & New Year’s Day   1 p.m.–7 p.m. ; Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 20) 11 a.m.–10 p.m.

EVENTS:

Opening Night
November 15, from 5-10 p.m. Kick off the season with the opening night for Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green! The first 50 people in line at 5 pm skate for free. Forever Green members skate for free from 5-7 pm. Entertainment is provided by the winners of the Discover Houston Music showcase on the Anheuser-Busch stage from 7-10 pm. The Lake House will be serving classic American fare such as burgers, salads and tacos. 

Frostival 
November 17, from 6-10 p.m. This year experience classic winter traditions outdoors under the glittering lights of downtown Houston. Make snow angels in the Snow Zone!
Take pictures with your favorite Santa Claus including Houston’s own Pancho Claus and Black Santa. Enjoy hip-hop dance performances from J-Dance Company! Take photos with amazing art cars, and dance to an ice-cold DJ set from DJ Mohawk Steve featuring nostalgic hip-hop and H-Town favorites! The first 50 skaters skate for free. Forever Green Members skate for free 5–7 p.m. (maximum 5 family members.)

Skate Party Saturdays
Saturdays, December 28 and January 4 from 7-10 pm
DJ G Funk will bring the party while you and your friends enjoy skating on the ice.

Skating Stars
Sundays, November 17 and 24; December 1, 15-29; January 5 and 26; February 2 from 7-7:15 pm
Houston’s top figure skaters perform demonstrations. Get inspired by what’s possible when you practice on Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green!

Sundays with Santa!
Sundays, November 24 and December 1, 15 and 22 from 4-5 pm
Children of all ages are invited to visit with a Santa Claus of different backgrounds.

Cheap Skate Mondays
Mondays, November 18, December 2-16, January 13 and 27 from 5-10 pm
On select Mondays this winter, glide around Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green for just $9 plus tax per person (includes skate rental).

Inclusive Skating Night Tuesday
Tuesdays, December 3 and January 28 from 5-8 pm
A welcoming environment for skaters with special physical or developmental disabilities to enjoy the rink. Guests with special needs skate for free. Guests in non-motorized wheelchairs require a responsible adult to accompany them. Ice rink will close to the public at 5 pm in partnership with Family to Family Network and BEE Abled. We Love Houston Wednesdays – BOGO
Wednesdays, November 20, December 4-18, January 8-29 from 5-10 pm
Slide through the mid-week blah’s by grabbing a friend and hitting the ice! Enjoy your favorite Houston-themed music. Houston themed clothing encouraged. Show your Houston love! Buy one admission and get another FREE!

Student Discount Night
Thursdays, November 21, December 5-19, January 9-30 from 5-10 pm
On select Thursdays, high school and college students can show their current student ID to receive $2 off admission. Not a student? Come out and skate anyway!

Happy Hour Fridays
Fridays, November 22, December 6-20, January 10-31 from 5-8 pm
Get your weekend started with fun. Purchase tickets for anytime between 5 and 8 pm and receive $2 off admission. Plus, get a free ice cream when you spend $12 or more at The Lake House.
