For a Strake Jesuit student, managing ten thousand steps is a given. The expansive facilities demand a day packed with walking for all campus-goers: students and teachers alike. As the time approaches three o’clock in the afternoon, everyone is plagued with drowsiness. Accompanied by classic teenage sleep deprivation, and of course, the stresses of high school, this additional exercise can lead to the desperate need for a nice place to relax.
Though the school offers plenty of such locations, Strake Jesuit’s “The Kettle” never ceases to be a hotspot. Selling beverages and pastries, the beloved café draws in hundreds of customers every week. The Kettle, located on the college preparatory campus, boasts ready-to-grab tasty bites alongside a variety of refreshments. From the festive seasonal drinks to the delicious cookies, The Kettle has a treat waiting for every student.
The café, open every day to the student body, is located just feet away from the dining hall. A common lunchtime attraction, The Kettle never fails to add to a Strake Jesuit meal. The shop sells an impressive selection of coffee, as well as non-caffeinated options such as refreshers and smoothies. Additionally, baked goods such as cookies and muffins await pupils. Readily available for purchase using a student ID, the items bought at The Kettle can be taken anywhere on campus for enjoyment.
Much like its strawberry banana smoothies, The Kettle’s versatility goes unmatched. The store is furnished with booths and chairs for students to use throughout the day, making it an excellent stop. The well-lit room, faint music playing in the background, is a fantastic study space for driven customers while also serving as grounds for light lunchtime conversation. Usually filled with coffee-craving adolescents, many students mingle during free or passing periods.
The café, adorned with furniture and cozy old photos, is a wonderful spot for pupils to get off their feet. From its welcoming workers to its homey feel, The Kettle is a must-see when it comes to the Jesuit campus. Whether it’s socialization one is looking for or just a moment of meditation, the adored school shop has its students covered.
