Kids in STEM

Preston and Reagan Sauer and Mia and Don Turilli (pictured, from left) enjoyed the 7th annual STEMfest at Wilchester Elementary School. The kindergarten girls and their dads were among more than 1,000 students and families who attended the annual event to participate in hands-on STEM activities. Facilitated by the Wilchester PTA, the activities included stations where students could build city streetlights, make flashlights, and make robots with craft rolls, coin batteries, and motors. Each class made a “city block” with 3D buildings and used coding to create a route for robots. The result was a massive “city,” with traveling robots following codes determined by the students.
