Katina Christensen is glad to be back on home turf.
The attacker graduated from the St. John’s School lacrosse program in 2021, but she returns to campus today to play Arizona State University as a part of the Dartmouth Women’s lacrosse team.
“It’s been an incredible experience both athletically and academically,” Katina said. “Dartmouth is a pretty special place and I’ve been really excited that I’ve gotten to journey far away, but of course, there’s no place like home.”
She will play today at 12 p.m. on Scotty Caven Field. The game is open to the public and spectators are welcome. Katina already knows that much of her family, which is rooted in Houston, will be there to cheer her on. Her younger brother, Andrew, is a junior at SJS.
“I’m also excited to see if some of the St. John’s girls get to come out,” she said. You heard her, Mavs!
Katina, a former co-captain of the SJS team, says returning to Caven feels like home. While in high school, she played four years of lacrosse and soccer and earned several national honors including USA Lacrosse All-American, USA Lacrosse Academic All-American, Adrenaline All-American, and Under Armour Underclass All-American. She has continued to excel as a D1 athlete, scoring the second most goals on her team in freshman and junior year and leading in points as a sophomore. In a February game against Siena College, she surpassed 100 college career goals.
Katina is excited for the East Coast-West Coast match and hopes the game inspires other athletes. “I think it’s a great opportunity to showcase what the sport of lacrosse has to offer, especially for an area that still has a lot of chance to grow the game.”
Come support Katrina at 12 p.m. on Scotty Caven Field (3111 Buffalo Speedway). Dartmouth also plays at UH’s TDECU Stadium (3700 Cullen Blvd.) on Sunday at 12 p.m. Go Big Green!
