Elisa Villanueva Beard, Rebekah Guill, Josephine Smith, Deborah Cannon, Ann B. Stern, Cathryn Selman, Doug Selman, Tiffany Cuellar Needham, and Lori Sherman were among the 300 Teach for America Houston supporters at the Ignite Potential luncheon. The third annual event was held at The Briar Club and raised $531,000 for education efforts in targeted schools. This year’s luncheon was chaired by Teach for America Houston board members Deborah Cannon and Lori Sherman, and honored Cathryn and Doug Selman for their commitment to the students in our city. Keynote speaker Ann B. Stern, president and CEO of the Houston endowment, shared her thoughts on the challenges and opportunities for today’s educators.
