The Tomorrow: Tomorrow’s rock musicians
Young musicians playing and enjoying classic rock music may not be very common nowadays. But our alternative rock band, The Tomorrow, is bringing the high energy of live rock performances back! We play a variety of different genres of rock, including covers and our very own original songs. Some examples of the bands we cover include Foo Fighters, Radiohead, and Metallica. Our goal for 2025 is to potentially release an album consisting of only original songs. Our first album will include our first original song, “What We Have”, which has been a huge success in our numerous shows throughout the year.
As you may have guessed, our band members are all young musicians living in the West University and Bellaire area. I’m Ian Byrne, the drummer and one of the singers, and I’m a freshman at St. John’s. Our other band members are Colin Kelly, one of our guitarists and a 9th grader at St. John's School, Jason Yu, who plays guitar and is a 7th grader at St. Mark’s Episcopal School, and Sophia Ramachandran, who sings and plays the bass guitar, a 9th grader at Kinder HSPVA.
We started our band about a year ago, after three of our members performed a song at our 8th-grade graduation ceremony at St. John’s School. Shortly after this successful performance, we invited Jason to join the band as we knew him as a talented musician from the School of Rock West University. We have already played in several venues across the Houston area such as Dan Electro’s, the POST Houston, Betsy’s at Evelyn’s Park, SpindleTap Brewery, and Emmit’s Place. We would love to share our music with you through our Instagram (@thetomorrow_band) and YouTube (@TheTomorrowBand_htx) pages.
As of now, our next show is June 14 at Betsy’s at Evelyn’s Park, and you can check out more upcoming shows on our Instagram page. We would love to share our love for music with you, and we hope to see you all at one of our performances!
