Happy Friday! This weekend includes an opportunity to see a previously-lost Houston-made movie, Bastille Day celebrations, live music, plus ways to celebrate 713 Day - our love for Houston. The Buzz joins communities across Texas in mourning for those whose lives have been lost or impacted by the Texas floods. If you’re looking for ways to help, we’ve rounded up some opportunities here. We’ll be continuing to update this list as we hear of more opportunities.

The Houston Astros will face the Texas Rangers in the 3-day Silver Boot Series. Each year, the winner of the series keeps the coveted Silver Boot Trophy at their ballpark. Cheer on the Astros at Daikin Park as they compete in this annual rivalry game.

In honor of 713 Day, the Houston Zoo is offering $7.13 admission tickets this weekend.This weekend only, guests will savor a hot dog and chips at the food truck or dessert pizza at Cypress Circle Cafe for $7.13 and enjoy live music as they stroll around the Zoo. Reservations must be made online.
Juneteenth in July At Emancipation Park

Emancipation Park Conservancy invites the community to celebrate Juneteenth in July - a family-friendly event honoring freedom, culture, and unity in the heart of Third Ward. The first part of the event will include a curated vendor market, followed by the evening portion which will feature a powerful musical tribute to the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, an instrumental figure in establishing Juneteenth as a national holiday. Attendees can RSVP to the event by texting Juneteenth to 713-313-4354.

Be among the first to see this lost film made in Houston starring Shelly Duvall, Haylie Duff and Mary Elizabeth McDonough! Unaired for 20 years, Houston Cinema Arts Society will be hosting the second screening of Dreams in the Attic. Enjoy a film that highlights iconic H-Town locations at this event which will be honoring actress Shelley Duvall and her legacy. The screening on Saturday, will feature an extended introduction by the film's director Bob Willems. Read more about the film here.

Join the Houston Food Bank for a special 713 Day Volunteer Shift. Enjoy a doughnut from Voodoo Doughnuts before joining a volunteer shift. The shift will be followed by a celebration of Houston with food, music by DJ Bloom, and other Houston-centric highlights. 97.7 The Box will be onsite, Ben & Jerry’s will be giving out free scoops, and there will be vendors including Exotic Pop and Chingona Picosita Candies.

Celebrate Bastille Day at Rienzi by enjoying art-making activities, listening ot French music, and exploring French-inspired objects and furnishings on a house tour in French.

This block party is co-hosted by Meow Wolf Houston and Saint Arnold Brewing Company, in partnership with Do713. The celebration will include art, music, food, and community. All ages are welcome to join in the festivities.
