Houstonians are lacing up for the 53rd Houston Marathon this Sunday, but that's not all - the SALE takes place today and tomorrow, plus Spring Valley Village Snow Day, and more.
Chevron Houston Marathon Race Weekend
This weekend is the 53rd Houston Marathon! All races, including charity entries, are officially sold out. Runners can pick up their packets starting today. Even if you aren’t racing, this race weekend is packed full of fun activities and cheering locations.

After crossing the finish line at the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon, and We Are Houston 5K, celebrate your accomplishment with friends, family and runners alike at RunFest presented by Michelob Ultra! RunFest presented by Michelob Ultra will be held in the Jones Lawn at Discovery Green following each race. This festive atmosphere is a great place to meet up with friends and family, hang out, and relax after the race. With a variety of vendors representing the Houston area, RunFest will be the perfect place for you and your family to celebrate crossing the finish line.

Cheering for Team 27
The marathon team, with more than 150 members, is raising funds for the Heaven’s 27 Foundation, established to support the individual foundations honoring the lives of the 27 Camp Mystic campers and counselors lost in the July 4th Hill Country floods. They will have two official cheer stations, and everyone is invited to join and cheer them on. There will be a post-race gathering at Wakefield Crowbar on Sunday, 2-5 p.m., including food, drinks, and outdoor fun for the whole family. Wakefield Crowbar is donating 20 percent of all proceeds to Heaven’s 27 Foundation.

Spring Valley Village Snow Day 2026
Sat., Jan. 10, 2-4 p.m.
City Park
The City of Spring Valley Village invites residents to enjoy its annual Snow Day on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the City Park. Snow Day offers a snowy hill for sledding and a dedicated snow play area where children can build snow angels and snowmen, and enjoy the snow. This event is geared toward children, with activities best suited for younger participants. Parents and guardians are encouraged to supervise children to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. The City will provide a limited number of sleds for shared use. Residents are welcome to bring their own sleds. Parking will be available in the City Hall parking lot. Please note that in the event of inclement weather or unsafe conditions, the event may be modified, postponed, or canceled. Any changes will be communicated through the City’s official communication channels.

Bumper Cars on Ice at Discovery Green

Fridays 6-11 p.m.
Sunday 6-8 p.m.
Tickets are $20 plus tax for a seven-minute ride. Children must be taller than 42 inches to ride.
Bumper Cars on Ice offers visitors the opportunity to slip, slide, spin, and crash across the ice from January 2 through February 16, 2026. This playful twist on a classic amusement ride is open to children and adults, with no license or prior experience required, and tickets are $20 plus tax. Height requirements apply for riders.
