Bridging apps

Easter Seals Greater Houston volunteer and former program participant Nathan Schwabenland (pictured) engages in online hobbies like gaming and creative endeavors including filmmaking, digital art, and animation on the laptop he received through the BridgingApps program. Easter Seals created the innovative program to provide laptops to Houstonians with disabilities as part of its mission to expand digital literacy and access. Young adults in the program receive a laptop after participating in a 20-hour digital skills training class. BridgingApps also connects participants with Easter Seals’ Transition and Employment program and offers weekly labs with assistive technology experts on hand. In addition to learning valuable skills, participants often form social bonds and create friendships that continue long after the class is completed.
