15th Annual Empty Bowls Houston

Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls is a collaboration between Houston area ceramists, woodturners and artists working in all media and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.

Empty Bowls is an international effort to fight hunger, implemented in Houston to benefit the Houston Food Bank. The unique lunch fundraiser will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019, and is a collaboration between Houston area ceramists, woodturners and artists working in all media and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. In its first 14 years, Empty Bowls Houston has raised $875,000 for the Houston Food Bank! (This equals approximately 2.63 million meals to the hungry!)

Attendees enjoy perusing the 1,500-plus one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowls donated by Houston area ceramists and craft artists, which are available for a donation of $25, which goes 100 percent to Houston Food Bank. For each bowl purchased, attendees receive a simple lunch of soup provided by Sweet Tomatoes and bread from Slow Dough Bread Co. The empty bowls purchased serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and the world. There are also larger bowls available at a higher price (lunch also included). Note: for each $1 donated to Houston Food Bank, THREE meals are provided to the hungry. So, each $25 bowl purchase provides 75 meals!

Live music curated by Sofer Entertainment and artist demonstrations throughout the day.
