19th Annual Invitational Choral Festival
In the 18-year history of Hear the Future, thousands of students from over 40 of the area's finest school choral programs have participated in this annual choral music festival hosted by Houston Chamber Choir. Each year, Hear the Future features an elementary, middle, and high school choir in a performance that serves to acknowledge and encourage high standards for all school choirs. In addition to bringing much deserved attention to the many excellent choral programs in the Greater Houston area, the festival provides an introduction to the professional singers of the Houston Chamber Choir to these young students and their families. At the conclusion of the festival, all participants gather together to sing a mass choir piece with the Houston Chamber Choir and celebrate their accomplishments afterwards with a pizza party hosted by Houston Chamber Choir. The free community concert gives audience members a chance to show their support and appreciation for the outstanding work done by music educators and their talented singers.
Three outstanding choirs will once again represent the remarkable work being done in our schools by talented directors and their singers. This year’s participants are the Aldine Children’s Honor Choir, Colleen Riddle, director; the Fort Settlement Middle Varsity Choir directed by Kimala Ross; and the O. Davis High School Choir under the direction of Daryle Freeman.
