2016 Crime Stoppers of Houston Gala
Crime Stoppers of Houston will host its 24th Annual Crime Stoppers Gala on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Hyatt Regency Houston. The Celebrating History in the Making Gala will honor Mayor Sylvester Turner for his outstanding contributions to public safety. Additionally, the event will celebrate the history Crime Stoppers is making through the construction of its first home and the first-ever Crime Stoppers headquarters and to celebrate the history of the building's namesake, Dave Ward. The Gala will benefit Crime Stoppers of Houston and its mission to solve and prevent crime through its many crime prevention programs.
Keynote speaker will be Michael Rezendes, Senior Investigative Reporter with the Boston Globe Spotlight Team. His incredible investigative work led him to sharing a Pulitzer Prize in 2003. This past year, Rezendes' real-life work was the basis for the award-winning movie, “Spotlight”, in which his character was played by Mark Ruffalo. “Spotlight” won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Screenplay. Rezendes is an acclaimed journalist with a passion for truth and social justice.
