2023 Japan Festival Houston

After a four-year-long hiatus due to the pandemic, Japanese Festival of Houston will be returning to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Hermann Park on May 6-7, 2023. In addition, the event will mark the 30th anniversary of the Japanese Garden and the 50th anniversary of the Houston-Chiba Sister City relationship - important milestones that will be celebrated with topflight entertainment, food and other cultural offerings. 

Japan Festival Houston is an annual celebration of Japanese culture held in Houston’s Hermann Park. Enjoy the rich cultural heritage of Japan with traditional and contemporary performances of Japanese music, dance and martial arts, Japanese/Japanese-inspired food, as well as demonstrations and displays of Ikebana flower arrangement, tea ceremony, origami, bonsai and more.

The Japanese Festival of Houston, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that sponsors the annual Japan Festival Houston to educate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Japan that is preserved by the Japanese and Japan-American communities by demonstrating and exhibiting Japanese customs and traditions. The Festival also serves to cultivate the alliance between Japan and the United States.

One of the most attended events of its type across the entire United States, the Japan Festival brings about a reaffirmation of a commitment to Japanese and Japanese-American traditions, both old and new. The event is FREE and open to the public. Vendors will be charging for their food items and merchandise. Participation in select activities will require a fee.
