23rd Annual River, Lakes, Bays ‘N Bayous Trash Bash

2015 Trash Bash volunteers

Get ready to clean it like you mean it at the 23rd Annual River, Lakes, Bays ‘ N Bayous Trash Bash® - the state’s largest shoreline cleanup event. Once a year, thousands of volunteers gather along the Texas waterways to do their part in cleaning up the environment by participating in the largest statewide event to educate the public about the importance of our water resources. Bayou Preservation Association will again spearhead the Collins Park cleanup site on Saturday, April 2, at 8 a.m.

Hundreds of volunteers from BPA and throughout the community are expected to gather in the park at 6727 Cypresswood Drive in Spring to do their part in cleaning up the environment by picking up trash and debris along Cypress Creek. Managed by the Texas Conservation Fund with support from the Houston-Galveston Area Council, the annual River, Lakes, Bays ‘N Bayous Trash Bash® has grown from seven sites to 15 sites across the Houston-Galveston region. Last year alone, the region-wide event brought together nearly 4,400 volunteers to clean 162 miles of shoreline, collect 37.4 tons of trash, recycle 2,620 pounds of collected materials, and gather 434 tires for recycling.
