28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration
Each year, the Museum honors the legacy of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with messages of unity, justice, and peace.
Beginning at Noon:
- Musical Selection/Medley – Dr. Kiana Williams "Lift Every Voice and Sing"
- Welcome, Purpose by Kids’ Committee President Sofia Salinas
- Performance by Ministry in Motion
- KC invites crowd to join their Peace March down Kid’s Hall to Alcove
- Steve Scott reenacts “I Have a Dream” Speech
- Dr. Kiana sings “A Change is Gonna Come”
- KC closing remarks
Special Storytime & Craft Sponsored by Phillips 66: Following the reading, children will work together to make their own “Unity Peace Doves". Takes place at 2 and 3 pm in the Parent Resource Library
Dove Garland: Celebrate Marting Luther King Jr's message of peace by creating a dove garland. Takes place all day in Junktion.
Dream Art: What are your dreams for your family, friends or future? Use them to create a colorful cloud to display at home. Takes place all day in Junktion.
