Beyond the Storm Showcase Home

Stone Acorn Builders LP will debut Houston's Southern Living "Beyond the Storm" Showcase Home in Braes Heights for three weekends in September. Proceeds from the showcase home tours benefit the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation.

The showcase home will be located at 3758 Drummond in Braes Heights, a neighborhood decimated by flooding during Hurricane Harvey. The showcase home is built on the site of a bungalow that was razed after damage by the storm. Flood tolerant elevation and other amenities are incorporated into the new home.

The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation will partner with Stone Acorn Builders on the Southern Living “Beyond the Storm” Showcase Home in conjunction with September’s National Literacy Awareness Month.

Stone Acorn Builders’ Southern Living "Beyond the Storm” Showcase will open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for home tours and special events Sept. 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30, 2018.

Special planned activities include chef, floral, gardening, wine tasting and interior design demonstrations at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. daily each weekend and pop-up story times. Featured appearances include Houstonian Pastry Chef Catherine Rodriguez, Interior Designer Lindsey Herod, Culinaire’s Barbara McNight, Melinda Kanner of Buchanan’s Native Plants, Elaine Ousely-Nevarez of Elaine's Florist, Goodtaste.tv’s Tanji Patton, Master Chef Philippe Verpiand of Etoile Cuisine et Bar, Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen’s Sylvia Casares, Nobu Master Chef Carl Murray, Wine Aficionado Ginny Endecott, Brennan’s of Houston Sous Chef Jose Arevalo and Mister McKinney of Mister McKinney’s Historic Houston.
