Celebración de Vida by MEXICRÁNEOS
Celebración de Vida by MEXICRÁNEOS is a large-scale art installation featuring 10 vibrantly 7’ tall painted skulls placed throughout Discovery Green and along Avenida de las Americas. Each skull is painted by a different Mexican artist to portray an aspect of Mexican culture or heritage. Celebración de Vida marks the first time the work has been shown in the United States. The skulls will be placed throughout the park and along the Plaza at Avenida Houston beginning Oct. 6 and will be on view through Nov. 7. Admission is free.
Celebracion de Vida is presented in Houston by the Discovery Green Conservancy and Houston First Corporation.
Día de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is a Mexican holiday where families and friends gather to celebrate and remember those who have died. To celebrate Día de los Muertos alongside the Celebración de Vida art installation, Houston artist Angel Quesada will create a community altar on view Nov. 1, 4-9 p.m.
