Communities In Schools of Houston's "Soaring to New Heights" Gala
Soaring to New Heights—Communities In Schools of Houston’s (CIS) annual gala—takes place Wednesday, April 9, at The Post Oak Hotel. Chaired by philanthropists Caroline & Will Brown and Virginia & Cramer Williams, the event honors longtime board member Jan Redford, Ph.D., for 30 years of dedication to CIS.
The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and a program at 7 p.m., featuring inspirational testimonies from CIS students, Student Support Managers, parents, and a principal. Live entertainment by Houston’s Klockwork band will close out the night with dancing.
Proceeds support CIS’s mission to empower students by providing critical resources—from mental health counseling and academic support to health and human services. CIS serves 135 campuses across Greater Houston, placing full-time Student Support Managers in schools to offer direct services and referrals. Additionally, CIS’ Mental Health Initiative, launched 13 years ago, delivers behavioral and mental health interventions across campuses.
