Crafting a Legacy Spring Luncheon 2023

Crafting a Legacy Spring Luncheon

This spring, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft will honor art activist extraordinaire, Judy Nyquist, at the 2023 Crafting a Legacy Spring Luncheon. As a lifelong arts aficionado and champion of artists, Judy has played a pivotal role in the Houston art scene and worked tirelessly in support of HCCC in particular. For more than a decade, she has served as a loyal patron, an enthusiastic supporter of the Center’s artist residency and exhibitions programs, a chair of multiple fundraising events, and she is currently leading the Center’s board of directors for a second term. HCCC is thrilled to honor Judy for her exceptional efforts—not only in lifting up the work of Houston Center for Contemporary Craft but of the entire Houston arts community.

The luncheon program will focus on a lively conversation between the honoree and Cindi Strauss, the Sara and Bill Morgan Curator of Decorative Arts, Craft, and Design and Assistant Director, Programming at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.  Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on contemporary art objects and jewelry in the silent auction and purchase stunning centerpieces—all of which will be created by celebrated craft artists.

Proceeds from the Spring Luncheon will benefit HCCC and its mission to advance education on the process, product, and history of craft. Nationally known for its artist residencies, exhibitions, and educational programming, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is one of the few art venues in the country dedicated exclusively to the interpretation and presentation of craft. HCCC supports emerging and mid-career craft artists with opportunities to further their practices and careers, and engages the wider community through family programs, workshops, and outreach to bring craft into the hearts and homes of our city. Admission to HCCC is always free.
