Earth Day at Memorial Park

Earth Day at Memorial Park

Celebrate Earth Day at Memorial Park! There will be lots of earth-friendly activities to participate in starting at Picnic Area #1 in Picnic Loop (the first Picnic Area as you come into Picnic Loop) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., including:

  • Go plogging with The Buzz Magazines: Plogging means Picking up Litter while Jogging (or walking)! The Buzz will provide a bag and gloves. Take them with you as you go out anywhere into the Park to pick up litter you might spot on the trails. Read more about the Plogging movement here.
  • Plant and take home your own native wildflower: Meet members of the Conservation team, learn about the soil in the park, plant your own wildflower in a container, and take it home!
  • Memorial Park 101: Kids Edition!: Kids age 8-12 are invited to explore Memorial Park’s wooded hiking trails for an hour-long guided scavenger hunt hike with Memorial Park Conservancy staff. Please make sure to wear appropriate hiking attire. Parents are encouraged to attend the hike with their child. Starts at 10 a.m.
  • Join MPC staff for an hour-long hike starting at 12 p.m. on the Southside wilderness trails to learn about how MPC reuses and recycles in the Park with the BioCycle program. Please wear appropriate hiking attire.

Look for The Buzz at the entrance to the Picnic Loop area. Enter from Memorial Dr. at the light at Picnic Lane. There will be parking on both sides, either at the ballfields or at Picnic Loop.
