HGO Digital: Hansel and Gretel

HGO Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers calls Engelbert Humperdinck’s darkly enchanting classic, based on the fairy tale, one of the greatest and most beautiful operas ever written. This new version created for our digital studio—led by Maestro Summers and director-on-the-rise Lileana Blain-Cruz—will allow audiences to experience the work as never before, with live performances and original animated settings by award-winning visual artist Hannah Wasileski. The production will add new layers of storytelling and visual theatrics to the enchanting opera about a pair of children who encounter a witch after being sent into the woods to forage for strawberries for dinner.
