Houston 2020: Book Signing & Talk with Award-Winning Writer Ralph Bivins

Ralph Bivins will sign and discuss his new book, Houston 2020: America’s Boom Town – An Extreme Close Up, at the River Oaks Bookstore on Thursday, Jan. 30, 5-7 p.m. In his book, Bivins examines one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities and lays out the projects, partnerships and personalities that are positioned to define Houston within the next decade. He takes a deep dive into how Houston must now grapple with mounting economic issues, transportation problems and regular bouts of flooding. The 186-page book examines projects such as the Astrodome’s $105 million renovation, Pennzoil Place, Discovery Green, the downtown historic preservation, the demolition of the Pierce Elevated freeway and prospects for The Energy Corridor. Guests will enjoy refreshments and discussions of the urban geography and peculiar real estate markets of the expansive Texas metropolis.
