Houston Reads Day 2023

Literacy Now, a local non-profit organization dedicated to transforming communities by empowering children and families through literacy, leadership, and life skills, will host Houston Reads Day on Thurs., March 2, 2023, a day for Houstonians to come together to read to students, support Literacy Now’s expansion, and bring awareness to the literacy crisis in our city.

More than 500 volunteers will come together and will be encouraged to read to at least two classrooms for 15 minutes each. Limited virtual reading opportunities will also be available. 35 HISD and Aldine ISD schools will be participating, impacting 14,000+ Pre-K-3rd grade students. Fundraising goal: $1,200,000.
