Houston Cinema Arts Society and Houston Museum of African American Culture are teaming up to celebrate Juneteenth and Black Music Month at Moonstruck Drive-In Cinema at East River. The schedule of events include:
Saturday, June 19:
A Juneteenth Celebration: Miss Juneteenth and Doretha's Blues ($30 per car)
• 7:30 p.m. - DJ Red's Chopped and Screwed Mixtape featuring Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, Nina Simone, and more.
• 8:15 p.m. – Dorthea’s Blues, 2021, 15 minutes (Houston Premiere)
• 8:30 p.m. – Miss Juneteenth, 2020, 103 minutes
Wednesday, June 23
A Black Music Month Celebration: Summer of Soul (FREE with advanced registration)
• 7:30 p.m. - DJ Red's Chopped and Screwed Mixtape featuring Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, Nina Simone, and more.
• 8:30 p.m. – Summer of Soul, 2021, 117 minutes
