"Let Me Down Easy"
The Baylor College of Medicine Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy welcomes playwright, TV star and stage actress Anna Deavere Smith for the Houston premiere of her theatrical hit, Let Me Down Easy. The docudrama examines the body as it relates to health and human existence in verbatim excerpts from real-life interviews, where Smith builds a kaleidoscopic one-act play full of heart, humor and heroism. Using her unique performance style, she introduces you to a rodeo rider, a reverend, a patient, a musicologist, an altruistic doctor - even former Governor Ann Richards. Together, their voices tell a stunning story about the vulnerability of the body, the resilience of the human spirit and the escalating price of healthcare.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. followed by a panel discussion at 8 p.m. and dinner in the Wortham Grand Foyer at 8:30 p.m. (requires purchase of dinner ticket).
