Loving Houston 101 Workshop
Loving Houston will host a Loving Houston 101 Workshop, followed by a Leader Luncheon, Tuesday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. Houstonians interested in how their church can begin or expand a partnership with a local school are encouraged to attend. At the workshop, Amy Taylor from St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Marcie Coleman, assistant principal of MacGregor Elementary will share details of their church-school partnership. Lawrence Allen of the Texas State Board of Education will discuss the legal guidelines and protocol for church-school partnerships.
Following the 101 Workshop, current partnership leaders will gather for a Leader Luncheon to share ideas, and learn about available resources. Ashley Smalls of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services will identify how to recognize and report abuse, and Roxanna Barnes of Alief ISD will share the principles of Restorative Discipline.
