Make A HOLIDAY of It! Teddy Bear Bike Ride
Children of all ages are invited to join the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science for Make A HOLIDAY of It! Teddy Bear Bike Ride, a fun and socially distanced version of their annual Teddy Bear Check-Up. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with guests enjoying outdoor check-up stations where young children can perform medical examinations on teddy bears, followed by a bike ride and picnic in the park.
Guests also are invited to enjoy The Health Museum exhibits -- GEAR UP: The Science of Bikes and Outbreak: Epidemics in a Connected World. Through GEAR UP, museum visitors will learn how bikes work, the history/evolution of the bike, the science and technology behind the machine, and how bikes have impacted our culture. Outbreak provides an up-close and intricate look at pandemic risks in the 21st century, zoonotic emerging infectious diseases, and get a glimpse at how three outbreaks dramatically affected the Greater Houston region since the 1920s.
