Spotlight on Joseph Exhibition

Congregation Beth Israel presents vibrant new works from Houston-based artist Barbara Hines that explores the complicated, yet timeless life of Joseph. Opening Thurs., Jan. 9, 2020 in the Margolis Gallery, “Spotlight on Joseph” is comprised of more than 25 mixed media works on paper and several works on canvas. 

Found in the book of Genesis, Joseph’s story is one full of highs and lows and while it may have taken place 4,000 years ago, it still holds powerful relevance. Today, the colorful paintings transport Joseph from the Five Books of Moses into the 21st century, depicting him in contemporary scenarios.

A selection of works from the exhibit will be available for sale with 100 percent of the proceeds being donated to The Margolis Gallery.
